Earl Gray passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021 at the age of 87 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was predeceased by his parents Lowell and Florence Gray, and younger brother Robert L. Gray.
Earl is survived by his wife, Barbara, and his children Michael (Mary) and Michele (Ted) and granddaughter Sarah. Also survived by his cousins Kenneth (Donna), recently of Calgary, AB; Don (Ann) and Allan (Robbie) Morrison of Edmonton, AB; Graham (Leddy) Stokes of N. Vancouver and David (Margaret) of Qualicum Beach, BC.
He grew up in Calgary, AB and commenced his lifelong love with the automotive aftermarket. He learned his expertise with Grosser Automotive Ltd. in that city, and when he opted for a move to the BC Coast, he was eagerly welcomed by Gordon Fish Ltd. in Victoria. He also worked with UAP/NAPA in Ladner and enjoyed the time with many new friends there.
In 1996, Earl retired with his wife, Barbara, back to Vancouver Island, this time to their vacation spot in Parksville. This was a perfect location for a twenty-year retirement from the working world. Many new friends and neighbours made his life so happy, specifically Lois and Dennis Kaye, who moved into the house next door and have become lifelong friends and so helpful during difficult times.
Special thanks to all the wonderful and caring staff at the Qualicum Manor, who have cared for Earl and so many other, making their lives so much more enjoyable. It was their attention to absolute care that prevented any cases of COVID-19 in that facility.
