Betty died peacefully at Stanford Place in Parksville BC after a difficult battle with cardio-vascular dementia. She is sorely missed and forever loved by her husband, David, of Parksville, her children Edward (Ted) of Burlington ON, Andrea Martin and her husband David of Port Elgin ON, Shannon Carson and her partner Al Wiensczyk of Prince George BC, grandchildren Eric Martin, Adam Martin, Heather Carson and Colin Carson and foster daughter Kathy Rains of Burnaby BC.
Betty was in child psychological work with Peel Board of Education in Mississauga, Ontario. Betty was passionate about many social issues. She was actively involved in the United Churches Dave served, in British Columbia and Ontario, particularly with senior girls and missionary concerns. In her leisure time she loved being with family and friends at “The Cottage,” reading, quilting, attending the symphony and traveling. Betty made strong and lasting friendships wherever she lived.
In 1996, Betty and Dave moved from Ontario to British Columbia, living in Kelowna until coming to Parksville two years ago.
A Memorial Service will be held in Qualicum Beach, BC at St. Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way, on Monday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 pm.
