May 16, 1938 - Dec 17, 2017
Dick left for his final fishing trip on December 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Fishing was not just a career for Dick, it was his passion, his purpose. Larger than life, he was known by most, if not all fishermen in Steveston and along the West Coast of BC.

At the age of 13, the "Captain" bought his first fishing boat, marking the beginning of his lifelong love of the water.

More comfortable on water than on land, Dick was known for his mischievous sense of humour, big heart and as one of the hardest working fishermen in BC.  True to form, he was at sea, catching fish, until this fall.

Survived by wife Bonnie, children Tracey (Rick), Bridgitte, Craig (Colleen), Shawn (Dana), step-daughter Natalie (Jamey), and grandchildren Cianne, Pharran, Grace, Jack and Ava.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the New Year. Date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Agency, or a palliative care centre of your choice.

Condolences may be offered to the family at www.yatesmemorial.ca
