Dick passed away May 18th with his family by his side. Born in Alberta, Dick was the eldest son of 10 children. A “Baker” by trade he worked in Alberta, NWTs and the Yukon before moving to Duncan in 1949. Dick was Transportation Superintendent for the Cowichan School District until his retirement to Parksville in 1972. While in Duncan he was active in the Duncan Curling Club, the Duncan United Church AOTS club and the Masonic Lodge. After his retirement, many years were spent camping and travelling and Dick began his new hobby of needlework which brought him many years of enjoyment as well as numerous awards. Dick loved gardening and the outdoors and was a member of the Arrowsmith Naturalists.

Dick is survived by Elaine, his wife and partner of 60 years; daughters, Daneve (Barry) and Sheryl (John); grandchildren, Keith, Raymond (Andrea) and Jennifer; great grandchildren Miranda, Jonathon and Ethan; sister Audrey of Qualicum; brothers Walter and Jack of Alberta, Harold of Ontario and Tom and Bob of Port Alberni.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Brad Bell and his staff and to all the exceptional staff at Arrowsmith Lodge who provided wonderful care and comfort for which we are extremely grateful. Deepest thanks also to so many supportive friends and family for their many kindnesses.
