STOREY, Richard

Passed away peacefully March 9, 2007

Richard was born November 8, 1956 and raised in Port Alberni. He attended Calgary Elementary School, Mt. Klista Junior Sec. and Alberni District Senior Secondary.

Richard worked at several jobs in the Valley. Some being Woodwards Automotive, one of the local mills and finally AC Brake and Battery. He worked for AC Brake for about 20 years, until the doors closed in 1994. By that time he had already made his move to Qualicum Beach where he continued with his wife to raise their two children.

When AC Brake closed its doors, Richard pursued his lifelong dream of working for himself doing what was his hobby: landscaping/gardening. He enjoyed his work and continued that business until he became ill in November of 2006. Richard was well respected in the gardening community and enjoyed very much all the people he worked for and with.

Richard had a great zest for life and always started his day on a positive note. He spent a great deal of time outdoors, not only in his work but also kayaking, walking and skiing. When he wasn’t working or out doing any of his other hobbies, you could always find him enjoying and creating his own gardens or spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard leaves behind his wife Vittoria, his son Johnathan Storey, daughter Jaime Belveal, son-in-law Jeff Belveal and his two grandchildren, Isaac and Sophia Belveal. He also leaves behind his dad, Douglas Storey, brother Brian Storey (Peggy), sister Glenda Fortin (Daniel), sister Barbra Mercer (Brian), and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Richard will be sadly missed by all his family, friends and customers.

A Celebration of His Life will be held on Saturday, March 17 at the Christian Fellowship Centre in Qualicum Beach,825 Village Way, at 1:00 p.m.
