After coexisting with pancreatic cancer for what he deemed long enough, Rick Beaudoin passed away at a time of his choosing on Wednesday, Aug 28th, 2019. Right till the end, Rick lived his life exactly the way he wanted to. His perfect Rick life started when he met his wife Wendy while at Hardisty Junior High School in Edmonton 57 years ago and he stayed by her side from then on. He even had his perfect career already planned out when he was 15 years old and told Wendy he wanted to be an accountant when he grew up. Rick went on to love his career and excel at it becoming a tax partner at Deloitte and proud mentor of many young staff members. He worked very hard to provide the highest quality of life possible for Wendy, his two boys, his four grandsons—and himself too. Yes, Rick liked nice things. Nice food. Nice wine. Nice travel. Nice bikes. A perfect day for Rick would be a long bike ride on one of his really nice bikes in a stunning location with his favourite riding partner, Wendy, followed by a local craft beer, then a delicious meal either in a nice restaurant or prepared by himself while listening to his collection of indie/folk/country/rock music, all paired with the perfect wine (or wines) and surrounded by the company of friends, family and of course Wendy. Rick had more of these perfect days in his life than even the world's greatest accountant (which he was) could count. By the time more than 50 years of a truly loving marriage and 72 years of life had passed by, Rick had checked everything off his bucket list three or four times over. May we all be so fortunate. We love you Rick/Dad/Grandpa.
Rick is survived by his loving wife Wendy, brothers Mike and Brett, sons Troy and Kurt, and awesome grandsons Holden, Harrison, Avery and Carter. He was pre-deceased by his infant daughter, Jill, in 1974.
An informal memorial gathering for family and friends will be held at the Beaudoin home at a later date.
