Rita Jean (Bell) Bogart went to be with the Lord on May 7th, 2021. Rita was raised in Ponoka, Alberta and later moved to Edmonton for nursing school. She received her RN certification in 1966 from the Misericordia Hospital and married her husband in the same year.
They lived in Edmonton and raised their young family until moving to White Rock, BC in 1981. In 1991 they settled in Qualicum Beach to enjoy Island life and their surrounding community.
Rita leaves behind her husband Robert (Bob) of 55 years, daughter Debbie, son David (Deanna) and son Chris (Karrie). She will also be tremendously missed by her grandchildren, Christiana, James, Jonah, Jett and Sasha.
Rita, first and foremost loved her family. She felt fortunate to watch her children grow into happy, successful and kind adults. She enjoyed the many holidays and visits with her grandchildren and was always there for them with hugs and freshly baked treats.
Rita also loved her community - baking, cooking and decorating for the Parksville Baptist Church. She was known for her friendly demeanor and welcomed new members of the church into her home.
Her other passions including watercolour painting where she spent much of her time sharing her skills and knowledge with fellow painters. When not at the art easel, Rita enjoyed playing golf and was an avid follower of the game. She also had a special place in her heart for Ireland having felt fortunate enough to visit Ireland a number of times.
Rita will be greatly missed by her family, all her many friends and her community.
A special thanks and gratitude to her doctors and the care team at Trillium Lodge who provided exceptional hospice care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation.
