Died peacefully in the evening of January 28, 2003

at Eagle Park in Qualicum Beach

Predeceased by his son Ian and daughter-in-law Donna, Doug is survived by Joy, his loving wife of 60 years, daughter Jean (John) of Qualicum Beach, sons Bruce (Bee Choo) of Halifax, Keith (Helen) of Penticton, granddaughters Lori, Polly, and Yin, grandsons Taylor, Kiefer, Michael and Glen, and 7 great grandsons.

Born in his beloved Saskatoon in 1918, Doug grew to be a championship competitor in both swimming and golf, which remained a passion for the rest of his life. He was most notably a decorated veteran of WWII, flying 27 missions as a bomber navigator before being shot down in March of 1945. He subsequently lived in Penticton and taught school there for many years. Doug will always be remembered for his quiet courage, integrity, generosity, unique wit and sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held at St. Stephens, Tuesday, February 4th, at 1:00 p.m.
