Robert W Hoare
April 29th, 1943 – February 2nd, 2015
With broken hearts we said goodbye to Bob, a beloved husband and father, who passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Hospital.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 49 years, Ellie; sons, Mike (Andrea), Larry (Evelyn); grandchildren, Tyrone and Lucas (Chelsea); great-grandchild Leigha; brother, Tom (Marie) and their children Scott and Jaeson. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Reg Ross (Louise) and Ed Braun (Petra); nieces, Kathy (Vince) Cenerini, Melissa (Tom) Bond; nephews, Mark (Selina) Ross, Kristoffer (Kristiana) Braun and Trevor (Mali) Braun; grandnieces, Danya and Charlize; grandnephew, Wakely; as well as many relatives in Saskatchewan.
Bob was born to Jack and Ethel Hoare in Kelvington, Saskatchewan, where he spent his early years growing up on the farm. In his early 20’s, he migrated to the lower mainland with his best friend, Reg Ross. Bob and Reg met Ellie and her sister,Louise and the two couples were married and bonded for life. Both couples then moved to Cranbrook where they bought a business together. Bob went on to own and manage a real estate company as well as other businesses. He always said he loved every minute of it.
As Bob’s health started to decline, he and Ellie moved back to the mainland, where he worked as a resident manager. They retired to Qualicum Beach in 2006, joining Reg and Louise and always felt so lucky to be here even though he called it “The Rock”.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff in ICU at NRGH for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Mike Massey who has a special place in our hearts. As you said, we will meet again at Heaven’s Door.
He was a fighter.
He fought so bravely.
We didn’t want to lose you.
But we had to let you go.
Cremation has taken place at Yates Funeral Services & Crematorium.
A private family memorial will be held at a later time.
