Ronald Edward FERRIS

February 27, 2012

November 6th, 1925 - February 27, 2012

Ron passed away peacefully at his home in Nanoose Bay, BC. Ron was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Florence (nee Hendey) and their daughter, Lorraine, as a child. He is survived by his son, Michael and daughter, Pamela (Dave), three grandchildren; David, Victoria (Jer) and Karel; and one great granddaughter, Jillian.

Ron was born in Kensington, England and grew up in Worcester Park, Surrey. The stories of his childhood adventures usually started with: “On a Saturday morning...”. Ron joined the army as a teenager, serving in India, Australia, and other places that made for more stories he often told us after supper. Ron left the army and worked as a motor mechanic for Gleason’s in Surrey before moving his family to Manitoba. He worked for 30 years at Standard Aero Engineers in Winnipeg as an aircraft technician before retiring to Nanoose Bay.

Ron enjoyed fishing, making videos and editing photographs. He liked the Big Bands and he and Florence were a joy to watch on the dance floor. Ron was fond of dogs, especially his Golden Retrievers: Jenny, Buffie and Homer. In his last years he cared for the wild cats in his garden. Dad will be greatly missed by his family.

At his request, no funeral will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be
