Ronald Murry ELLIOTT

July 16, 1930 – December 1, 2015

Ronald Murry Elliott of Parksville, BC passed away peacefully at Stanford Place in Parksville on December 1, 2015 at the age of 85. He was born in Lampton Mills, Ontario on July 16, 1930.

Ron was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Anita Dobson Elliott; sister, Beverly Joan Elliott; brother, Gerald Elliott; and his grandson, Clifford Sinclair. He is survived by sister, Linda Lorraine Elliott Harker (Mississauga, ON) ; children, Linda & Charlie Alford (Osoyoos, BC), Barbara & Butch Sinclair (Toronto, ON), Pam & Ray Stec (Pitt Meadows, BC), Rhonda & Tom Roy (Parksville, BC) and Gail & Rick Johnston (Whitecourt, AB); grandchildren, Stacy Britten, Becky Barker, Deborah Sinclair, Burton Reynolds, Kyle Reynolds, William Roy, Elizabeth Roy, Emily Scott, and Nina Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Dean Rempel, Desiree Rempel, Cole Barker, Drew Barker, Linden Reynolds and Maddex Reynolds.

Ron worked in wholesale electronics for most of his career, moving to the west coast in 1986 with his wife Joyce. For a time, he and his son-in-law Tom ran a consulting business helping companies train employees in the early stages of personal computer technology. Ron and Joyce retired to Vancouver Island in 1991, living in Qualicum Beach briefly and then moving to Parksville, where he spent his remaining years. Ron was an active volunteer for Errington Therapeutic Riding Association, the Citizens on Patrol, and also driving people to appointments for SOS until his own health precluded these activities.

He moved to care in 2013 and, although his health gradually declined, he enjoyed and appreciated the care he received while living at Stanford Place. Ron’s family would also like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Stanford for making Dad feel this was his home.

In keeping with Ron’s wishes, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour his memory may do so by

making a donation in his name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,
