Rosabel Eilien Stickle

Rose Stickle breathed her last at 10:45 pm on November 23 at her home in Errington, BC, while surrounded by family singing, “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Among all the tears that flowed, there were smiles when Herb, Rose’s husband, told a daughter on the phone, “The last thing mom heard was singing. We are not sure if she heard the singing today, but the girls have been singing to her for two weeks straight since they arrived. So we are sure that is the last thing she heard!”

Rosabel Eilien Reimche,“Rose” was born to Albert and Emma Reimche in Kelowna, B.C. on June 14, 1939. She was the third of eight children, five who survive her including twin Sue along with Ed, Alberta, Darlene and Leo. Rose grew up in British Columbia and Alberta.

In July 1962 Rose married Herbert Stickle, and they began their married life in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Five children joined their home over the course of the next 11 years, Susan, Edwin, Barbara, Ann, and Jane. Rose had a lifelong commitment to God and to her church serving with Herb in Canada, India, Bangladesh, USA, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique. More recently Rose appreciated the caring fellowship of the Parksville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Music including teaching, leading choirs for youth and adults, and participating through voice and piano, organ, permeated Rose’s life. She loved children homeschooling her own and loving and caring for many more, sometimes taking struggling babies into her home for a time to bring them back to health. For many years she taught preschool and children’s Sabbath School, and piano to children. Rose enjoyed gardening, flowers and hiking in nature. She loved people and enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbours.

In 2012, Rose and Herb celebrated 50 years of marriage and service for God around the world in the company of their children, grandchildren and many friends and family members.

Rose’s surviving family includes husband, Herb; daughter Susan (David), grandchildren, Justin (Betsy), Janelle and Marquelle; son Edwin (Brit), grandchildren Kari & Bjorn; daughter Barbara (Eric) grandchildren Caity, Chris, Cece, Caroline, Chani, and Channin; daughter Ann; daughter Jane (Hennie) grandchild Esme’. Susan and David’s daughter, 8 month old Rachelle, died September 14, 1992 and Barbara and Eric’s son, 19 year old Conner, died on November 16, 2015. Rose suffered loss in death of sisters, Zella and Edna, and niece Ruth and looked forward with anticipation to the reunion with these dear ones when Jesus returns.

Her husband, Herb, her children and their families, her brothers and sisters, as well as many other close relatives and friends look forward to a soon reunion at the coming of the Life Giver, Jesus, Who has conquered death and the grave. It won’t be long now.
