December 18, 1948 - November 20, 2020
Ross slipped away peacefully at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with his wife and brother at his side.
He was predeceased by parents Rodger and Hilda Ireland.
He leaves his loving wife of 42 years, Stella, sons, Curtis of Terrace, BC and Kevin of Houston, BC. and granddaughters, Morgan, Madalyn and Marla.
He will be greatly missed by brother Bob (Dorothy), sisters Erna (Brian) Colloton and Erin (Rick) Hanson, as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Ross was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and age 16. His irrepressible sense of humour served him well as he fought this progressive disease, along with many other medical issues. His mental strength and upbeat attitude inspired many. No matter what life threw at him he always had a joke.
In his younger years Ross worked in small engine mechanics. In the late seventies he went to Houston, BC for a fishing trip, and stayed for 37 years! There he went to work in the forest industry, hauling logs. In Houston he met great lifelong friends who shared his love of snowmobiling, fishing, and camping and family life.
He was very much a family man. In 2014 he and Stella relocated to Parksville where the weather was much more conducive to life in a wheelchair, and his brother was a tremendous help.
A service will be held at a future date, when Covid restrictions are lifted.
