In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness we advise of the passing of Ross Kenneth Sturgeon on the 10th of March, 2023. He died peacefully in his sleep at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, BC at the age of 95. He was a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ross was predeceased by his father and mother, Kenneth and Evelyn Sturgeon and his loving wife of 74 years, Marjorie Grace Sturgeon. He is survived by his three sons, Wes (Donna), Russ (Lynn) and Keith (Vicky) and his sister, Shirley Pennell. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Ross was born in Hanna, Alberta and at the age of 10, moved to Victoria, BC where he spent the majority of his formative years. He was a talented salesmen and worked with the HJ Heinz Company for 28 years. While residing in Victoria he belonged to the Meistersinger Choir for many years as well as thoroughly enjoying his time as a Toastmaster. Ross was extremely well read and could hold his own in any debate. He was an asset and popular member of every organization and community he belonged to and will be missed by the myriad of friends he pulled into his orbit.
Ross and Marjorie were happily married since 1948 and together they provided an excellent example of how to raise a successful, joyful and loving family. After his retirement from the HJ Heinz Company, they moved to Prince George and he worked with Wes and Keith respectively, taking on several new adventures such as driving truck, managing a warehouse and working as a salesman. Next, he and Marjorie moved to Banff where they worked with Russ in his retail store. Finally, together he and Marjorie retired to Parksville, BC and resided in the The Meadows for 21 years.
Ross was quite simply fun to be around, always quick with a joke or a story. He was passionately proud of his extended family and in retirement, loved to travel to each of their residences. Ross and Marjorie were always excited about travelling in their motorhome and together they had many adventures travelling throughout western Canada and the USA. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
At his request, there will be no Memorial Service.
