Sherris, Ruth Virginia
November 28, 1931 – May 1, 2016
With great sadness, the family of Ruth Sherris wish to announce her passing on May 1st, 2016 at Wexford Creek Care Home in Nanaimo B.C. at the age of 84 years. She was born on November 28,1931 in Acadia Valley, Alberta.
Ruth spent the first half of her life in the Peace River Country raising her family in Valleyview AB. She and her husband Howard owned and operated A Gulf Service Station as well as a number of other businesses. In 1980 they retired to Parksville where Ruth enjoyed her many hobbies such as Curling, Bowling, gardening and travelling. She so loved a good gathering anytime of her large family and her many friends. There was always room at her table no matter how many extra that turned out to be. She was a funny, feisty generous and loyal lady. Her love of children was legendary and many walk around today singing some unique Irish gramma and GG songs that she taught them.
A great Mom, a funny loving grandmother she leaves to mourn her passing 5 of her 6 children: Dianne, Miles (Tammy), Logan (Melodee), Pearl, Evada and (Andy) :her grandchildren ; Tara , Craig, Karen , Natasha, Nicole, Adam, Miles, Douglas, Brandon, Quenton, Jordan, Makayla; and 14 great grandchildren; as well as 1 sister Betty, 2 brothers-in-law Doug and Melvin and 3 sisters-in-law. She will be cherished through memory as she joins her husband Howard, daughter Rozanne and son-in-law Ronald and eleven siblings that predeceased her.
The family wishes to thank the excellent and loving care their mother received from Dr. Njalsson and all the staff at Wexford Creek Care Home.
A service will be held for Ruth Saturday May 14, 2016 at 11 am at Ascension Catholic Church in Parksville. Father Karam officiating.
