SARAH (SADIE)
MCLINTOCK COATES
August 4, 1921 – January 30, 2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Sarah (Sadie) Coates announces her passing at Eagle Park Health Care Facility, Qualicum Beach, BC, January 30, 2014. Sadie peacefully joined her late husband Frank, sister Irene and parents Daniel & Elizabeth Morgan.
Sadie is survived by her brother Robert Morgan of Nanaimo, Jimmy Morgan of Courtenay, nephew Wayne Morgan of Richmond as well as extended family members in the Comox Valley and Nanaimo area. Nephews John Raga (Charmaine), Dale Raga, niece Margo Tantrum (Dave) and their families were especially close to Sadie and will feel the void left with her passing.
Home to Sadie was the Comox Valley for the majority of her life. Born in Lanarkshire, Scotland Sadie immigrated to Canada in May 1925 at age 3. Her early years were spent in Cumberland where she was schooled, employed and married. Sadie was an employee for the Royal Bank in Cumberland and later worked in Payroll for The City of Courtenay until her retirement in 1986. So as to be closer to family Sadie came to live at “The Gardens” in Qualicum Beach in 2008 and then due to her deteriorating health moved to Eagle Park Health Care Facility in 2012.
Sadie loved to listen to music and the enjoyment she received from the musical entertainment at both facilities was evident on her face and in her smile. The friendships she made were also very special. Her great disposition and spontaneous smile will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.
Thank you to each and every departmental staff member at Eagle Park for the attentiveness, compassion and dignity with which you have shown our Sadie throughout her stay and in her final days. It did not go unnoticed and was very much appreciated by the family. Thank you as well to Dr. Hugh Fletcher for the care provided.
Funeral service was held February 7, 2014.
Interment at Cumberland Cemetery,
Cumberland, BC and arrangements by
Piercy’s in Courtenay, BC.
