1970 Sept. 18 - 2010 Aug. 26

Scott Eddy, loving husband of Véronique Lebeau and only son of Dianne and Nelson Eddy of Deep Bay, BC, and brother of Dr. Chicory Eddy, DVM of Portland, Oregon died suddenly of a heart attack at home in Montreal the 26th of August, 2010. He was 39 years of age and in apparent excellent health. Scott and Vero had only two wonderful years of married life together. They were about to buy a chalet near their dear friends, Hugo and Eve Madeleine. A life of such promise, cut way too short.

Scott grew up on Ile Pariseau, Laval, Quebec with immediate neighbours Hugo and Francis Madeleine and Alex and Christian Beaulne, and nearby neighbours David and Stéfan Bauer, Rachel Rémillard, and Francois (Frank) Valotaire, among others. Newer neighbours Claudia and Nathalie Parent were quickly integrated into the group. Sadly, Frank has predeceased Scott as a result of an auto accident in western Canada. Rachel’s mother Suzanne gave us a beautiful testament to his life at 5PM Sept.4th in the funeral complex Les Salons Funéraires Guay Inc. in St. Eustache. This touching moment was followed by a toast to Scott, led by Hugo.

Scott was a valued employee of the I.T. department of Bombardier Aerospace for 9 years. We were deeply moved by the large turnout not only from Bombardier, but also from Bauer-Nike, where Scott had worked before moving to Bombardier nine years ago. From Facebook comments, and direct conversation, it was clear his humour and easy-going attitude had a very positive affect on his colleagues and supervisors.

Véro’s mother, Carole, brought a huge number of helium-filled balloons, which were liberated outside the funeral home at the end of the event. Watching them float away up into the great beyond, one could not help but imagine Scott’s spirit sailing off to Heaven.

There was no formal service. Friends and colleagues spent some time together at the funeral home in St. Eustache, north of Montreal. After the release of the balloons, many moved on to Rachel’s apartment to raise a few glasses in Scott’s memory.

Dianne and Nelson sincerely thank their friends and family for their heartfelt condolences and warm messages of support. We realize the great distances and other considerations make personal attendance impractical, but our hearts are warmed by your readiness to help in any way possible. We also wish to thank Scott’s many friends and colleagues from work, who told us of some of Scott’s qualities of which we were unaware.

The cards and flowers were beautiful. Thank you all.
