In loving memory ~
A beautiful kind soul that was taken much too young. Shawn was born in Nanaimo and grew up in Errington where countless memories were made and continue to live in our hearts.
Shawn will be forever missed by parents Dorrie Jorgensen and Jim Hollingworth. Brothers Ryan (Katie), James (Sydney), and Robert Hollingworth, Grandpa Lyle, aunts, uncles cousins nieces and nephew and many friends, as well as people who were fortunate to know him.
Shawn was an amazing, kind, and honest son, brother, uncle and friend. When you saw Shawn, whether work or fishing, he always had his beloved dog Rio at his side. Shawn was rarely seen indoors, as he spent all his time as an avid fisher, hunter, forager and gifted tradesman, where anything extra he had, he gave to those in need of it.
Shawn wasn't known for exchanging much words but you could always count on his smile and generous heart to say it all.
Shawn loved the quiet, especially while fishing.
He was often asked "how do you catch so many fish" and his consistent reply would be "it's all about the math", which left people referring to him as "the fish whisperer".
Shawn, the stamp river in Port Alberni will never be the same without you, but one thing is for sure, there will be more fish making it up the river now.
There were two very important people in Shawn's life that he loved as much as fishing, his beautiful Niece (Anna), who made him a very proud uncle, and his mom, Dorrie, who he always found the time for helping her in the garden and was often found messing up her kitchen baking his famous carrot cake, chocolate chip cookies and his candied smoked salmon.
Shawn, you continue to be loved everyday. You're forever in our hearts.
Mom and Dad.
A gathering will be held at a later date in Shawns memory.
Shawn
You are in the mist as it rises from the Somass at dawn.
You are in the wind whispering through the Cathedral forest.
You are in the eagle as it flies over the Alberni Inlet.
You are in the wild Sockey making its way up to stamp falls.
You are in the bear feasting on the Salmon at the confluence.
You are in the sunshine glistening off the Pacific Ocean.
You are in the majestic elk far off in the field.
You are in everything beautiful nature beholds.
But most of all,
You are forever in our hearts.
