After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer Sheila Anne Hanna passed on April 2, 2012 and is finally at peace. She passed surrounded by her family and in the light of love. Her passionate liveliness and playful zest will be greatly missed, she is dancing with the angels.

She is predeceased by her father Ronald Barker, sister Clo Philpott and brother Tommy Barker. Sheila was born in Coachman’s Cove, White Bay, Newfoundland on February 20, 1945. In 1970 Sheila moved to Parksville, BC with her husband. She is survived by her husband James Hanna (married 43 years) and her daughter Karen Hanna (Gemma) of Parksville, son Mark Hanna of Qualicum Beach and adoring granddaughter Kennedy Hanna. She is also survived by sisters Marie (Mike), Susan (Kevin), Donna (Dale), Jean, Hatty (Rick), Adrienne (Paul), and brothers Roy (Idella), Tom (Classie), Henry (Maxine), and Bob (Sherry). Her mother Elizabeth Barker (NL), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless and priceless friends.

Sheila started her career in St. John’s, NL receiving her nursing degree. She moved to Elliot Lake, ON where she met her husband and they moved to BC in 1970 where she started her family. After, being a full time Mom for 8 years, she restarted her career with the Parksville Home Making Society and then moved to work at Trillium Lodge, after 21 dedicated years she retired to travel. Sheila loved traveling, camping, beach walking, exercising and socializing with family and friends. She was loved and adored by all and especially by her granddaughter Kennedy. Sheila will be remembered for her loving kindness, giving, warm and nurturing nature and loyal dedication to her career and family.

Celebration of life will be held for Sheila at 3:30pm on the 21 of April 2012 at the Bradley Center 975 Shearme Rd, Parksville, BC. Potluck to follow.

Donations to the BC Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
