TILLEY, Shirley Mae
(nee Coate)
Born March 26, 1949 in Turner Valley, Alberta.
Passed away June 12, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Roy, father William, mother Dorothy, and brother Kenneth. Shirley will be lovingly missed by her brothers Ronald (Judy), Lavern (Lynda), Edward (Darlene), and her sisters Darlene and Marlene (Leonard), and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was very active in the community. She was secretary for the Lighthouse Community Centre, member and treasurer of the Bow Horn Bay Community Club, one of the Fall Fair organizers, co-ordinator for Bowser area Citizens on Patrol, active and honorary member of the Lighthouse Old Age Pensioners Assoc. At Christmas time she was fondly known as Mrs. Claus. Shirley received the Area ‘H’ Citizen of the Year Award for 2003.
A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held June 20, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Community Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lighthouse Community Centre, 240 Lions Way, Qualicum Bay, BC V9K 2E2.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maccari, the home care nurses, staff at Nanaimo Hospital and Parksville Funeral Chapel for their care and understanding.
