Nov 14, 1935 - Apr 15, 2018
Tilted back in his wheelchair for easier breathing, covered with his soft blanket, surrounded by his loving family, wife Gladys and daughters Dianne and Alison, in front of the fireplace, Fred passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at seven o'clock in the evening.

Fred truly was an amazing man - quiet, descent, loyal, passionate. He adored his family and they, him. He lived by example and let them watch.

Next to his family came his loyalty to his job. He worked for Air Canada for forty years and to miss a day's work was unheard of. His wife loved to tell the story of when they were expecting their first child, Dianne. Fred drove Glad to the hospital, got her nicely settled, patted her on the head and said "Now you do your job and I will go and do mine". He went on to win Air Canada's Award of Excellence.

Sports were a great part of Fred's life, soccer perhaps number one. He helped his team "The Kickers" to win an Alberta Championship. Curling would be a very close second. His big thrill here was winning a Kevin Martin Curling Broom and a picture of Kevin's curling team. It hangs on Fred's wall to-day with his numerous curling medals. He looked as good on the Baseball Diamond as he did on the Tennis Court and one of the reasons he bought his home on Fern Road was that big indoor swimming pool.

Camping was a big part of family life and Fred spent many hours out on the water in his boat, especially at sunset. Last but not least was the thrill of his motorcycle. Fred lived such a good life and he will be missed more than you can ever know.

A special 'Thank you' to our friends and neighbours who had Fred in their thoughts and prayers - we are eternally grateful. A big 'Thank you' to our VIHA home support team. They took exceptional care of Fred and our whole family.

There will be no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to The North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre (NIWRC).
