Myhres-Sigrid Johanna (nee Bostad)
On October 15th Sigrid peacefully completed her life’s journey at home surrounded by her children.
Born in Ulsteinvik, Norway in 1921, Sigrid came to Canada in 1929 and spent many years in Cold Lake, AB where she married Morgan Myhres in 1938. After several years in Terrace BC they moved to Deep Bay where they lived for over thirty years and were well known for their community involvement in the Legion and 4-H. They were avid gardeners and regularly won the annual gardening prize at the Bowser Fall Fair.
Predeceased by Morgan in 1997, Sigrid had been a resident of Parksville since the mid-1990s. Mother to six, Grandma to sixteen, Great Grandma to twenty-seven, Great-great Grandma to one and beloved Auntie to many, Sigrid loved her family and was dearly loved by them. Besides her family, Sigrid’s passion was gardening and she will be fondly remembered in her gardening hat surrounded by her beautiful flowers and bountiful garden. Sigrid also enjoyed travelling the world with her family and friends. Survived by her children Mabel(Albert), Leon(Pearl), Caroline (Stan), Lillian (Ted), Tito (Lynda) and Shelley (Shah), and their families; sister Lise and brother Art and nieces and nephews. Mom, we love you and miss you already.
A Celebration of Life reception and tea was held on Monday October 21, 2013 at the Bowser
Legion Hall, where Sigrid and Morgan spent many evenings dancing the night away.
