Sister Bettie Jean Wilms, 88, a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, died on November 5, 2015 at Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach, BC.
Sister Bettie was born in Vancouver, BC, Canada on September 18, 1927. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Albert and Alice.
Sister entered the convent on October 2, 1948. She professed her first vows on May 18, 1950 and her final vows on August 27, 1955. As an Atonement missionary, Sister served in parish, catechetical and pastoral ministries in California, Utah, New Jersey, and Oregon in the United States. Sr. Bettie also faithfully served in Greenwood and Cranbrook, BC as well as over twenty years in Parksville, B.C. before moving to Qualicum Beach in 2009.
Sister’s Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Catholic Church of the Ascension in Parksville, BC.
Services will also be held in the Motherhouse
Chapel, St. Francis Convent, Graymoor in Garrison, New York. Burial will be in the Sisters’ Cemetery.
