MCFADYEN, Sonya Rose (nee Voisard)
August 28, 1941 – April 27, 2016
A new Angel arrived in Heaven this day.
Sonya passed away peacefully in the Hospice at Trillium Lodge surrounded by her loving husband Ralph and her sons Miles and Michael. She fought a long six year battle with cancer while maintaining her love of life and family and retained her dignity until the end.
Sonya was born and raised in Wallaceburg, Ontario and moved to Victoria in 1960 where she met Ralph. They were married in February the following year. After living in Halifax, Montreal and Ottawa they returned to Victoria in 1989 and eventually retired in Qualicum Beach in 1998.
Sonya was an incredible spirit, small in stature but huge in the lives she touched. She loved great food, cooking and socializing, and was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. Whether she was walking the beaches of Tofino or sipping martinis in Palm Springs, she always had a smile that would light up the room.
Sonya was pre deceased by father Alex, mother Marie, brother Lee, and grandson Cole.
She is survived by her loving husband Ralph of 55 years, son Miles and granddaughter Victoria, son Michael, and grandson Maxwell, brother Jack, and sisters Anita and Merle.
Sonya requested no service in her honour. In lieu of flowers, she has requested donations to the Hospice Society of Oceanside.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Laurence McClure for his continued support throughout her battle, and a special thanks to Dr. Marlene Van Der Weyde and the dedicated staff of The Hospice at Trillium Lodge.
