THORNLEY, Sophia Allan (nee Husband) of Victoria and Qualicum Beach, passed away peacefully at Oak Bay Lodge on March 26, 2016 at the age of 90. She was predeceased by Fred, her husband of 57 years and Don Nix, her husband of 7 years and sons Peter and Tim. She is survived by her sons David (Gail), Chris (Cathy), Andy (Debbie), daughter-in-law Joanne; 8 grandchildren: Diane, Karen, Michael, Patrick,

Melissa, Cassandra, Allison and Robyn; 3 great-grandchildren: David, Megan and Paul.

Sophia grew up in Burnaby Heights and upon marrying Fred Thornley moved all over BC and Alberta, finally settling in Qualicum B.C. A talented artist and actress, Sophia performed with many theatre groups from Surrey, Langley and West Vancouver to the successful Capital Comedy Players in Victoria, to Echo Players in Qualicum. Career high points include: The British Farces and “On Golden Pond”. Sophia also acted in several television commercials and movies including Sherlock Holmes with Patrick Macnee. Sophia was a woman of character & substance,well worth knowing and much loved. She will be truly missed by all who knew her for her warmth, talent, humour and specially her kindness to others.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Echo Players, Qualicum or to Langham Court Theatre, Victoria would be a fitting tribute.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 2:00pm at St Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach.
