Stan Roger Maclean

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stan Roger Maclean on January the 7th 2017. He leaves behind his patient wife Doreen (Fluff) of 65 years, children Sherry, Don (Debbie), Cindy, Brian and pre-deceased by son Stewart and son in law Grant. Fondly remembered by grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born December 5th 1926 in Francios Lake he found his home early in life on Vancouver Island. With his wife Doreen, they started a family. Eventually they established a hectic household with 5 children. He drove a logging truck his entire working life and worked in many of the logging camps including Nitnat, Taylor River, Scott Cove, Gold River and many others on Vancouver Island.

In truth, time outside of work was spent doing whatever he wanted to do. Hunting, fishing, camping, travel. His body and mind were designed for this. He was known for enjoying wild outdoor adventures, weaving dubious tales, haywire handyman skills, and his love of all foods, especially Fluff’s baking. It cannot be said that Stan was self-conscious about anything, and to say that he lived life to the fullest is an understatement. He stood out from the crowd, and was a unique individual in every way. We loved this about him.

He will be remembered for his larger than life personality, a hearty laugh and good friends made from long time acquaintances and strangers alike. We say goodbye to Stan wishing him: good hunting, good fishing, a cold beer, a roaring campfire, and most importantly - a captive audience. Wherever he may be, we know he is the life of the party… one that we all wish we could attend.
