STAN WALLINGTON

October 15, 1944 – August 11, 2013

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stan “The Book Man.” He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer. His four sons, Sean (Nancy), Stacy (Katy), Eric (Tiffany), and David. Missing their grandpa are Jonah, Christopher, Kalen, and Connor, also Teesha. He will sadly miss the birth of his fifth grand child “baby wallington”.

Stan and Jennifer started Fireside Books in Parksville, in 1990. He loved going to estate sales to pick up his book treasures. He spent a lot of time browsing the S.O.S. Staff knew him very well as “The Book Man.” He was always one to tell stories, everyone loved them.

Stan was born in Hamilton, Ontario. He was proud of the fact his family started a lodge in Timmons, Ontario. A lodge he and his parents built together. He would tell us many humorous stories of his past. Quite a few of his stories we heard over and over, but we didn’t mind. Our friends would always love to hear his stories.

Stan had a quirky sense of humour that his sons inherited so any family get together was a fun night. Stan was proud of his boys, and dearly loved all the grand children.

The family would like to thank the palliative care nurses who took wonderful care of Stan in his final days. Also thanks go out to the doctors and nurses from emergency who helped with Stan for the past 2 years. Special thank you to Dr. Noble.

A memorial service will be held at Yates Funeral Home Sunday August 18, 2013 at 2pm

Donations in Stan’s name can be made to the Nanaimo General Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
