Stuart will be remembered for his charming manner, boundless optimism and sense of humour.

Born on May 17, 1932 in Prince George. Grew up in Port Alberni. Graduated from high school in Victoria. Died on September 6, 2009 in Vancouver. He is survived by children Greg Wilson (Bruce Chambers), Katya Wilson, Duncan Wilson (Rowly Johnson), granddaughter Emily, step-daughter Laura Duncan and his brother Barry.

Stuart was brought up in the newspaper business as the son of community newspaper owner Irving Wilson. He was a life-long Liberal.

An award-winning public relations counsel, he received a life-member award from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Vancouver. Among many awards Stuart received a cherished Gold Quill Award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and Award of Excellence from CPRS for “Vancouver Island Reflections”, a pictorial book about Vancouver Island and its people.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church, 1022 Nelson Street (corner of Burrard) on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to Haro Park Centre Foundation (haroparkfoundation.org) or St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation (helpstpauls.com).
