Susan Dougall

McLeod (Nee Fulton)

July 27, 1929 – August 26, 2013

Passed away peacefully in the palliative care unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a sudden illness and complications from pneumonia.

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 62 years John “Jack” McLeod, 2 sons Dennis (Julie) of Courtenay and Andrew (Marlene) of Parksville, granddaughters Crystal, Jennifer, and Tara, great-granddaughter Adrijana and great-grandsons Joey and Nolan.

Born and raised in Rutherglen, Scotland, Susan met her future husband Jack in Glasgow where they

married in 1951. They decided to immigrate to Canada in 1966 and settled in Vancouver with their 2 young sons. After their arrival they each began working for the Vancouver General Hospital where they made many friends and stayed there until they retired and moved to Parksville in 1993.

Both Susan and Jack have been long time members of the Royal Canadian Legion, first in Richmond and then in Parksville. They shared many wonderful times there with friends playing shuffleboard and Mexican train.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of NRGH & palliative care unit, as well as the care

givers and staff of Sue’s Senior Care in Parksville. A very

special thank you to Dr. Julia Hickey-Somerville for all the wonderful care she provided to Susan over the past 10 years.

It was Susan’s request that there be “no services” and that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of the donors choice.
