At Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville, BC. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma Susie, into the arms of her late husband Bob, in Heaven.
Susie was born in Brantford, Ontario and was one of six children. Although she was in size the smallest child, she definitely was the feistiest of them all, often ruling everyone at the dinner table and taking charge. Even so, Susie could and did keep a secret till it was advantageous for her, to let it be known.
Her family moved out West to Victoria (Esquimalt) BC around 1945 where she completed school and met her husband Bob, while roller skating at the Memorial Arena (Victoria). Susie and Bob married in 1950. Dad had joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1947, so they happily moved from Navy Base to Navy Base. Susie was the loyal dedicated wife providing the cleanest house on the street and poorest driving skills imaginable.
Along came their only child Lorine in 1953. We were the happy threesome. Mom & Dad enjoyed fishing, playing pool and cards. My Mom & Dad both had quick wit and there was never a dull moment in our house. They are wonderful Parents and I thank them so much. Bless them always.
Mom will dearly be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Lorine (Jeff); grandson Richard (Yujin); granddaughter Jennifer; and great granddaughter Diamond whom Mom was so proud of, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Also a very special “Thank You” to all the wonderful staff in particular Evergreen Wing, these last 4 years. You have ALL been fantastic. Also Dr. Sultz for his guidance along this journey.
The Service will be held Tuesday, May 20 at Yates Funeral Home, Parksville, BC at 1:00pm, with a private family internment at Royal Oak Cemetery in Victoria, BC on Wednesday, May 21 at 1:00pm.
