The family of Syd Gorrie regret to announce his passing on Nov. 30, 2005 in Nanaimo B.C

Syd was born September 15, 1916 in Port Arthur, Ontario. He attended Shuniah St. School and Port Arthur Technical School (Hillcrest). Syd served his country for six years in WW11 both in Canada and overseas. He returend to re-commence working at the grain elevators. Syd retired to beautiful British Columbia 25 years ago, and was most recently residing in Parksville. Recent ill health forced his move to Nanaimo.

He is survived by sons Ron (Roberta), and Jim, and step-son Peter Morch (Kira). His grandchildren Sandra Thompson (Ted), Michelle Gorrie, Gwen Gorrie, Blair Gorrie, Keegan Morch and great grandson Vincent Thompson. He is also survived by sisters Margaret, Victoria, and Doll. Syd leaves many nieces and nephews but had special love for Stella, Noreen and Paddy.

Predeceased by wife LIsa, mother Janneta, father Charles, siblings Charles, Jannetta (Faye), Gertrude and Frank.

Cremation has taken place in British Columbia, and a memorial service in Thunder Bay, Ontario, will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donation to a charity of choice or the Thunder Bay Professional Firefighters’ Bursary Fund would be kindly appreciated.
