COUTURE,

SYLVIE

Sylvie Couture, 56, of Parksville, B.C. and Sherbrooke, Quebec, died Thursday, May 8th, 2014. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends, family, and co-workers.

Sylvie was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and moved to the Parksville area in 1980.

Sylvie will be remembered for the Rainbow DayCare in Errington, the Donut Shop in Qualicum Beach, and as a long time employee of the School District, especially at Springwood Middle School, and for her work as CUPE president. Sylvie loved working with students, parents and staff. She was passionate about Social Justice issues.

Sylvie returned to Sherbrooke in 2012 to be closer to her many siblings following the devasting diagnosis of very early onset Alzheimer’s.

Sylvie is survived by her son Alex, of Vancouver, her eight siblings, and many nieces and nephews. We are especially thankful for the care she received from her sister Hélène and family and also sister Christine, Teddy, and brother Michel who were nearby and often with Sylvie. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Madame Marié for her time with Sylvie. Her care and compassion improved Sylvie’s quality of life.

A Celebration of Life for Sylvie will be held Sunday, May 25th, from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Errington Hall.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Sylvie. Cards for Sylvie’s family in Quebec will be forwarded.
