Ted Martyniuk

April 14, 1936 – January 7, 2014

Ted passed away peacefully at Stanford Place in Parksville on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife, Ollie; daughters, Brenda (Bruce) Wright, Wendy (Christopher) McDowall; sons, Brad (Rita) Martyniuk; grandchildren, Isabella Grace Martyniuk and Luca Bradley Martyniuk. Ted was predeceased by his daughter, Kelly Marie in 1960.

Ted was born in Norquay, Saskatchewan to George and Wasylena Martyniuk on April 14, 1936. An electrical dispatcher for over 40 years, he started his career with Saskatchewan Power, transferring to BC Hydro after relocating to British Columbia with his family in 1974.

After retiring from BC Hydro in 1996, Ted made a difference in the community by generously contributing his time and energy. He was a member of the Parksville and Nanaimo Councils of the Knights of Columbus, a 15 year member of COPS (Citizens On Patrol), and an active participant of the Nanaimo Scroll Saw Club. He also worked tirelessly within the Church of the Ascension community in Parksville.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Ted’s honour at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 14th at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, 887 Wembley Road in Parksville, Father Melquiades Bayron, Celebrant.
