Thomas Beverley Hudson
(1932-2014)
Just before midnight on Thursday, October 2nd, The Lord said, “Come home, Tommy.” Having struggled for several hours, Tom relaxed and passed quietly and peacefully into The Kingdom with family members close by.
Tom first travelled to Canada from South Africa in 1955 and fell in love with the country. In 1956 he travelled back to S.A. where he and Bobbi were married. They returned to Canada the following year and settled in Calgary.
After several active years within the oil and gas industry, Tom and two partners launched their own successful design and service company within The Patch. Tom eventually retired in 1990 and having spent many happy family holidays in the Parksville/Qualicum Beach area the decision was made to make the Island their permanent home.
Tom embraced everything about the Island. He became an active member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. He sailed, he fished, he joined the Qualicum Beach Golf Club and he volunteered with the Salvation Army. Tom made friends with young and old alike. He cherished friendships made here in the early years in Qualicum and remained in touch with many old and dear friends in Calgary.
Tom adored his children Tracy, Sharron and David and daughter-in-law Gail. He was a truly wonderful Dad and their friends still say that while he was strict during their early years, he was always fair. His grandchildren, Lauren, Elizabeth and Ryan, stole his heart, too, and he enjoyed every moment of their lives. We will miss you, Dabs.
The Hudson family is forever thankful for all the wonderful staff and care givers at Eagle Park in Qualicum Beach. Each and every one of you has been a blessing. We are also grateful for the love and support we’ve received from our St. Mark’s family.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on All Saints Day,
Saturday, November 1st, 2014, 2:00 pm, at
St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Qualicum.
