Predeceased by his parents Caroline and Joby Hughes; brothers David, Joseph, Peter and sister Daisy; also three sisters in infancy; great grandson Jaydon; beloved pets “Rupert”, “Mindy” and “Ruby” (who are now being thoroughly spoiled once again.)
Survived by his loving wife Marlene, children Karen, Paul, Danny and Vicky; grandchildren Ryan, Ebony, Tamilyn, Rory, Melanie, Jesse, Ashley, Holly, Caroline; great grandchildren Anig, Kristin, Madelyn, Donovan, Julian, Keston, Owen, Nathan, Leeland, Lukeus, Morgan-Rose. Also: sister Cissy and a beloved special nephew Mark; numerous other relatives and friends in England, France, Italy, Australia and Canada.
Dad/Tom was born in Christchurch, England. He was a boiler maker local 146, a “Mason” (past master) of Victoria Lodge #13, Edmonton War Amps. “Blesma” (British Limbless ex-Service Men Association).
He immigrated to Canada April 1966 with wife Marlene and their 4 small children. They worked and lived in Edmonton, Alberta until moving the family to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta in 1971, living there until moving permanently to their last home in beautiful Parksville, B.C. July of 1995.
Dad was the family historian and was one of the smartest, wisest, self-educated men you could ever meet. Always had a story to tell. Will be sadly missed by his loving wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
The family extend their thanks to Dr. McClure in Parksville, Dr. Lai, Dr. Rosaigh, nurses Margaret, Dana and all the nurses on the Cardiac Ward at NRGH for their loving care and support.
Funeral arrangements by Yates Funeral Service/Cremation.?A private service was held June 30.
