1942 - 2009

In the company of his

loving family, Tom passed away November 10, 2009 following a short battle with cancer.

Lately of Parksville, he lived and worked throughout Vancouver Island, the North Coast and the Lower Mainland. Tom was born in Vancouver, BC and moved to Port Alberni in 1966. He loved his career as a log scaler and had no intention or desire to retire. He enjoyed bowling, raising race horses and walking in the woods.

Family was very important to him, and his extended family included many stray people and stray cats and dogs.

He is survived in sadness by his wife Shirley Hendrickson and stepsons Dave (Roberta) Hendrickson and Jim (Susan) Hendrickson. Also fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jara, Dustin, Robert, Preston, Haylee and great-grandson Kyle. Dearly missed by his sisters Karen (Jim) Mullin and Marlene Smythe, brothers-in-law Bob Pernoski and Ray Pernoski, nieces and nephews Sherri, Dan, Theresa (Trevor), Matt and grand-nephews Braden, Johnathan, Josh, Jake, Jordan, Jeremy and Tedd. Tom was predeceased by his parents and great-grandson

Dylan Thomas.

Family and friends are invited to a gathering in Celebration of Tom’s Life, to be held at Yates Funeral Chapel, 1000 Allsbrook Rd Parksville BC on

Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation BC and Yukon, PO Box 730 Parksville, BC V9P 2G8 or the BC Cancer Foundation - Vancouver Island, 2410 Lee Ave Victoria, BC V8R 6V5.
