Ursula Wilhelmina ATKINSON-BERMAN

October 17, 2008

On Friday, October 17th, 2008,

Ursula Wilhelmina Atkinson-Berman passed away

peacefully, surrounded by her daughter Brigitte Berman, son-in-law Victor Solnicki and friend and co-worker,

Lauren Mason, at the Nanaimo Hospital on her beloved island – Vancouver Island, BC.

Ursula, as she was known all over the Island, was the proprietor of “The Captain’s Daughter” Boutiques in Qualicum Beach and Parksville B.C. She was a phenomenal woman of great courage, energy, and wisdom, a remarkable spirit who was admired and loved, and will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on and both her stores, “The Captain’s Daughter”, will continue to be open for business in Qualicum Beach and in Parksville, just as Ursula wished it.

She leaves behind her grieving daughter, Brigitte Berman, her son-in-law Victor Solnicki, her son and daughter-in-law Wolfgang and Annelie Paech, her two grand-daughters and great grand-daughters. In Wattenscheid, Germany, she leaves behind her sisters Anne and Lieselotte and brother-in-law Heinz Josef, and brother Willi and sister-in-law Marielis, and a large and loving extended family.

We would like to express our gratitude for the care and love she received on the fifth floor of the Nanaimo Hospital by the nurses, especially Iain Prattis and Dr. Kerridge and Dr. Carson.

A Memorial Service will be held in Qualicum Beach, B.C.,

in June, 2009, to celebrate Ursula’s

rich life and indomitable spirit.

May my mother’s legacy live on and may she rest in eternal peace. Tschuess, Mutti!
