Violet Erickstad, known to friends as “Vi”, passed away on June 2, 2011, at the age of 98. Until the end of her life, she was a strong and spirited woman.

Vi will be lovingly remembered by one sister, Rosie, and also by her 4 children, Floyd, Joan (Gerald), Jean (Hector) and Bill. She will also be fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Vi will also be forever remembered by many additional family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Matt in 1974 and later by her sisters Edith and Lillian.

Vi, born near Bashaw, Alberta in 1913, lived much of her life in the Sunrise area near Fort St. John, B.C., before retiring to Qualicum Beach, on Vancouver Island in 1968. Vi lived an astonishingly full life and was able to live in her home until the very end of her life. Vi prided herself on being helpful and contributed greatly to her community.

A celebration of life in memory of Vi will be held on Saturday June 18th. at 2 pm, at the Qualicum Bay Lions Rec. Hall in Qualicum Bay.

In addition, a celebration of Vi’s life will be held in the Cecil Lake area near Fort St. John during the summer.
