In Loving Memory ~
Virginia "Ginny" Taggart (nee Hill) passed away in Courtenay, BC with her family by her side on June 16, 2024 at the age of 73 after a short battle with cancer.
Born on August 15, 1950 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ginny moved to Vancouver as a young girl and graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1969.
She married a close high school friend, Bruce Taggart, with whom she had two wonderful children, and the family lived in several neighborhoods across the Lower Mainland.
Ginny and Bruce were avid SCUBA divers, a passion that often led them to exotic places such as Honduras, Mexico, and the Virgin Islands, in addition to a two-year sojourn in California and Grand Cayman Island. Ginny's other favourite travel destinations included Hawaii, Europe, and tranquil areas in British Columbia such as Desolation Sound and Bowron Lake Park, where she once traveled on her own to complete a ten-day guided canoe trip.
Ginny took great pride in both her work and home life - she was an expert in interior decorating and activity planning. In 2003, she and Bruce moved to the Sunshine Coast where they built a beautiful home on the ocean. A lover of the outdoors, Ginny enjoyed gardening, kayaking, and dragon boat racing. She delighted in forested coastal hikes with friends and neighbors, and always took a moment to touch the mosses and breathe in the stillness and calm of the natural environment.
Above all, she loved time with her family, and cherished visits from her kids and grandkids. In 2017, Ginny retired with Bruce to Qualicum Beach, where she continued to practice the motto she kept as a handwritten note on her bedroom wall: "Live well, laugh often, love much."
Ginny is lovingly remembered by her husband of 50+ years, Bruce, her children Andrew and Kirsten and their spouses Chloe and Geoffrey, her sister- and brother-in-law Jan and Harry, and her three granddaughters, Ocean, Leeluu, and Simone.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Aitken Community Hospice, Courtenay.
A celebration of Ginny's life will be held at a later date.
