WALTER CHARLES WILLIAM GWYER

(1918 —2005)

Walter, born in Victoria in 1918, beloved husband of Betty (nee Ray) for 63 years, died peacefully on May 9, 2005 with his loved ones and caregivers at his side at Arrowsmith Lodge, in Parksville, BC.

Walter grew up in Victoria, served in WWII, became the first fire chief of the Colwood Volunteer Fire Department, and was Post Master of the Bamfield Post Office. He and Betty lived in Victoria, Parksville, Vancouver, Bamfield, Ladysmith and Nanoose Bay. Walter loved his family, sailing, flying, fishing, hunting, and “fixing things”.

He was predeceased by his son Freddie, daughter Teresa, sisters Edna and Marjorie. He leaves his daughter Carolyn (Patrick), grandchildren Doug, Richard (Tamara), Heather, Jason (Anne), and Christopher (Tara); great grandchildren Alexander, Amber, Matthew,

Bodie, Wyatt, and Ethan.

A special thank you to all the caregivers at Arrowsmith Lodge for your extended wisdom and expertise. You made the family feel welcome and Walter considered the Lodge his home. A special hug for two faithful little girls, Amber and Sentenya, for their spontaneous and happy

visits over the last four years.

Walter requested no service be held
