GRIFFIN, Walter William
December 6, 1919 - October 30, 2004
Bill was born on December 6, 1919 at Luceland, Saskatchewan. At age 14, his family moved to Langley Prairie, BC. He was quite the entrepreneur, starting to make his way in the world by milking and herding cattle on the North Shore ... when there was no bridge yet! This was just the beginning of his business adventures ... "Griffin Brothers" was a well-known name in the area. On June 18, 1940, Bill enlisted in the Royal Westminster Regiment where he served his country overseas. He was wounded on February 28, 1944 at Ortonna, Italy and finally made his way back home on December 27, 1945. In 1947, while working for Veteran's Affairs, Bill fell in love with a stenographer named Eileen Edwards, an English War Bride. They were married on April 23, 1948. Bill and Eileen celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year together! Lots of fruit came from this union: they have 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 10.5 great grandchildren!! Bill came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in January, 1983. Oh, how he loved Jesus (and the Book of Revelations!). He was a long time member of the Full Gospel Assemblies Church, serving in Haney, Nanaimo, Harewood and Parksville. Bill was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.
