RICHARDSEN, Warde

October 24, 1928 - November 10, 2014

With much love, we say goodbye to our father, grandpa and great-grandfather, Warde Richardsen. Warde passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, on November 10th, 2014 at Stanford Place, in Parksville, B.C.  He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Leora (Coles) who left us in 2013.  He is survived by his children Monti (Wendy), Marnie (Mark), Dean, Moneca (Mark), Judy (Barry); his sister Janet; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Warde was born on October 24, 1928 in Birmingham, England to Henry and Ivy Oakes. At the age of 18, he joined the Royal Air Force and soon met the woman he would love for the rest of his life. Trading in his cherished motorbike to afford an engagement ring, Leora and Warde were married on October 30, 1948.

Leaving England in 1956, Warde and Leora arrived in Canada and made North Vancouver their home until retiring to Coombs, Vancouver Island in 1988. They both enjoyed the natural beauty of their new country and family summers were spent outside  hiking, canoeing, sailing and camping. He had a diverse career path and in his final working years was able to merge his passion for the outdoors when he joined the Ministry of Forests as a Park Ranger.

Never doing anything halfway, Warde always committed fully to his passions and interests. Of all the hobbies he enjoyed, he was at his happiest in his woodshop where he created beautiful furniture and sculpted treasures that are held dear by his family and will be enjoyed by many generations to come.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on

November 22, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 591 Arbutus,

Qualicum Beach.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the staff at Standford Place for their compassion, respect and caring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Lung Association.
