William Fredrick Thomas Fisher

August 28, 1932 – July 4, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Fredrick Thomas Fisher on July 4, 2016.

Bill was born in Kelowna, BC when the population was around 5,000. He enjoyed his small town life with his family and friends.

Bill worked various professions including working at the Bank of Montreal, running a restaurant in Kaslo, and working in the forestry industry but his love was education. He enjoyed the company and professionalism of his co-workers but what he enjoyed most of all was the children.

Bill worked as a Principal and Assistant Superintendent in Prince George, Assistant Superintendent in Qualicum Beach and Tofino, and Superintendent of Schools in Revelstoke, Golden and finally the District of Chilliwack. He was also BC Superintendent of Northern Indian Affairs. Bill’s many years working in education gave him a vast knowledge of British Columbia and many humorous stories.

Bill spent many hours with family at hockey arenas, swimming pools and soccer fields. He enjoyed lacrosse, curling, gardening, fishing, boating, traveling all over the world and most importantly spending time with his family and friends.

Bill has left his wife, Barbara, children, Geoff (Barbara), Scott (Carol) and Paige (Paul), step-children, Bill and Christine, sister, Pam and seven grandchildren. Bill will be greatly missed for his gentle nature and love of family.

Thank you to Bill’s family physician Dr. S. Desai, Dr. Fletcher and the staff at Stanford Place in Parksville, BC for their care and compassion.

A family celebration to honour our dear Bill, Dad and Grandpa will be held at a later date.

Please consider honouring his memory by making a donation to Covenant House Vancouver at 575 Drake St, Vancouver, BC V6B 4K8.
