Zoe Ann Olson

2 June 1958 - 31 May 2017

It is with deep sadness we announce that our daughter/sister/aunt Zoe has left us. Born in Kamloops, Zoe moved with her family to Vancouver Island in 1961 and, apart from a few years in the Interior (Chilcotin/Cariboo), this is where she grew up.

She pursued various educational paths and areas of work in BC and Alberta before settling on education, graduating from SFU in 1997 and making the Coquitlam school district her professional home.

Zoe was the middle sister of three and excelled early on at sports and making people laugh. She was fun-loving, quick-witted, and had a memory of steel. Along with her already-beautiful name, she also went by other names — among them Sooie, Soupy, Soph, Zobo, Zippy — all of which she embraced and enjoyed. Zoe loved to travel, to sunny places and to visit family and friends. Fitting both of those categories, the Island was her final destination, where she came to stay. Home.

Predeceased by her father Art in 2016, Zoe was dearly loved by family and friends, near and far, and will be forever missed.

Mother Rose; sister Lauren and Jim, sister Kelly and Rich; nieces Tess (Martin), Lucy and Chloe, and nephew Oke (Jess).

The family extends its gratitude to all of Zoe’s care-providers and, in particular, the ambulance attendants, nurses, doctors and other NRGH staff and volunteers who cared for Zoe, and us, in her last weeks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Zoe’s memory may be made to the

BC Cancer Agency, NRGH, Oceanside Hospice

or local charity or education fund of your choosing.
