Atheists in foxholes

We think it is wrong to allow readers to use letters to the editor for the propagation of their religious beliefs.

We think it is wrong to allow readers such as Shirley Powell (Honourable, Nov. 11) to use letters to the editor for the propagation of their religious beliefs.

And, it is wrong to see Remembrance Day ceremonies being hijacked for the same reason.

The ceremonies are for honouring soldiers killed in battle, not for praising God, Jesus, The Creator, Jehovah or any of the other myriad gods or goddesses. Contrary to popular propaganda, there were many atheists in foxholes, and to be unable to honour them without always having to publicly invoke mythical deities in the process is an insult to their memories.
