Some Parksville city hall types think it might be good to close down half the highway through town — absolutely ridiculous.
Would that annoy residents and create a bottleneck? You bet.
If a bottleneck would be the problem, and solve the desire to slow down traffic, just close the whole road down.
And Parksville could happily grind to a halt, and be saved the expense of buying up those lots to widen on the other end of town.
I remember when the highway was opened up to four lanes. It was wonderful and modern and that still applies.
