Caregiver advice

The reason for writing this letter is that I sincerely hope no one else will have to endure caring for a loved one at home as I did.

We had 70 caregivers come through our home in just three-and-a-half months. Most were lovely people, caring and attentive to their patient. A few went the extra mile to help me also, but sadly, a few should not be in the profession.

As for dealing and trying to cope with 20 different staff members in the team, it was nothing short of chaos.

Telephone calls were always greeted with “Please leave a message and we will return the call as soon as possible,” which resulted in a two-three day wait, if at all.

My advice to anyone facing my same problem, is try the private sector — they could not be worse.
