Conservative revival foolish indeed

This will only help the NDP

Mr. Mossman (The News, May 17) wants to see a BC Conservative Government for “common sense” British Columbians.

Anyone with even a small amount of real common sense knows that the chances of this happening are remote at best.

We already have a right of centre Liberal Government which, on the whole, has pursued the kind of sound and sensible policies that most with conservative leanings endorse. Of course, mistakes have been made; that is inevitable for any government.

For those who might choose to vote Conservative the only prospect in sight is the splitting of the right of centre vote and opening the door for an NDP Government. Is that what Mr. Mossman wants to bring about, given the incompetence we have endured under past NDP regimes?

The attempt to resurrect the BC Conservative Party must qualify as one of the most foolish political moves in this province’s history, especially when it appears that it involves the choice of a reactionary nonentity as the leader. If the right of centre vote is in fact split come the election and we end up with another incompetent NDP gang in charge, we shall know who to blame.
