Ferries fallout

Letter writer says the blame for problems associated with BC Ferries can be pointed at both unions and management

I am neither pro-union nor pro-management. The BC Ferries problem lies with both here.

The union asking for exorbitant and unrealistic wages and benefits compared to other industries requiring similar skills and job sets, and management for not resisting these demands and caving under threat of a strike.

Even though we Islanders would have been very inconvenienced in work stoppages, we wouldn't today be faced with having to pay for past inappropriate settlements through these ever-increasing ferry rates and route cutbacks.
