In the strait, sea lions were barking as we turned into the Qualicum Beach Inn for parking. Serendipity, as (Gary) Hodi sang and played. On seats at the bar, we stayed and ordered our food and drinks.
My daughter asked the young couple at the end of the bar if they were locals or visitors. They, too, had been here a year.
Later, I signaled to the waitress to take my card to pay. She pointed to Christa at the end of the bar who waved and said, “It’s payday!”
She had paid for our tab. We thank her for her generous gesture. Very kind and thoughtful!
